ROC Star Academy was built to nurture young peoples' love of music and their ability to perform at the highest levels through coaching by our seasoned staff of professional musicians and educators. We’re experts in coaching aspiring musicians in vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums. We have programs tailored to solo artists and young people interested in performing with bands. We also have a suite of artist development services for those ready to publish their music.

1. Coaching and mentoring from real rock stars
ROC Star Academy was founded by a rock star—singer/songwriter and musician Elvio Fernandes, a member of the Grammy-nominated band Daughtry and co-writer of Daughtry’s no.1 Billboard song “Heavy is the Crown.” He also has produced hundreds of songs for aspiring artists.
All coaches at ROC Star Academy are working musicians who will elevate your child’s confidence and fun factor as they learn to play like a rock star. Being mentored by some of the best professional musicians in Rochester is one of the key differentiators and points of pride for ROC Star Academy.
2. live shows at popular music venues and events
ROC Star Academy performers take the stage regularly at popular music venues and events, where they gain experience—and joy and confidence—performing live at all-ages shows.
In addition to official academy gigs and showcases, current ROC Star Academy bands collectively play hundreds of live shows each year—not just periodic recitals. The academy bands and alumni performing regularly in the local music scene, as well as nationally, include Jack West, BB Dang, Judah, Brody Schenk, Max Doud, and many more.

3. The ROC Star Academy studioS & performance space
The ROC Star Academy location in East Rochester features an array of music-themed lesson rooms, a professional recording studio where albums are recorded, and a main stage performance venue, with a comfortable lounge area for parents to hang during lessons. Plus, the academy is in a secure location with easy, free parking.
At ROC Star Academy, aspiring rock stars are coached and mentored in Guitar, Drums, Keyboards, Bass, Vocals, Studio Recording, and more. Registration is open for year-round academy coaching, private lessons and two separate weeks of Camp ROC Star each July all at our location.
