John Akers

John Akers is musician, singer, songwriter and teacher who has lived and worked in the Rochester area for over 20 years.  He has written hundreds of songs for himself and other artists.  With his band Hard Rain, he recorded three albums, including one for SBK/Electra Records in 1993.  Since then, he has written and self-produced two solo albums. For several years, John made his living playing local clubs and touring colleges and other venues in New England and the Midwest.  He has written, produced and sang on many local and national commercials.  John has a MS in Education and is currently a social studies teacher in Brockport.  He continues, however, to play close to 200 shows per year (alone, with his current band, the taint, or with his partner Elvio Fernandes) and writes whenever the muse moves him and time permits.  He has been married to his lovely and tolerant wife, Sheri, for 16 years with whom he has 9 year old twins.
